Roblox is widening both how games are built and where they can be played, unveiling expanded AI creation tools alongside plans to let creators release standalone games across mobile, PC and consoles rather than keeping every experience inside the main Roblox app.

The announcements came at the Roblox Developers Conference 2026, where the company also revealed browser-based play, offline gaming features and new financial tools aimed at making its creator ecosystem easier to build businesses around.

TL;DR

  • Roblox plans to let creators release games as standalone apps across mobile, PC and consoles.
  • Its AI-powered Build tool has already been used to publish about 9,000 games.
  • Browser play through Chrome is expected by the end of 2026, while offline solo play is planned for mid-2027.
  • Roblox is also launching Wallet and Card products for eligible creators.

Roblox Games Are Moving Beyond The Roblox App

One of Roblox's biggest RDC announcements was Roblox Everywhere, an initiative designed to give creators more ways to distribute their games.

According to Roblox's official announcement, creators will soon be able to make games available as standalone apps on mobile devices, PCs and consoles, while Roblox continues supplying the underlying technology and services. Founder and CEO David Baszucki said the company has built what is “effectively a cloud operating system for gaming,” which Roblox now wants to extend with an AI creation layer.

Reuters similarly reported that the initiative is intended to make Roblox-powered games easier to access outside the core Roblox app. The Daily Star, citing Reuters, noted that the standalone apps will continue to rely on Roblox's technology underneath.

Players will also get another way to skip the main app entirely.

By the end of 2026, Roblox says users will be able to open a game's Experience Details Page in Chrome and start playing in-browser without downloading an app. Additional browser support is expected later.

Offline solo play is planned for mid-2027, allowing creators to combine an online multiplayer experience with a single-player mode that remains accessible when an internet connection is unavailable.

Roblox Expands AI Game Creation After About 9,000 Build Games

The distribution push comes alongside a wider rollout of Roblox's generative AI creation tools.

TechCrunch reported that Build, which Roblox first introduced in July, lets users create playable games through natural-language prompts without requiring them to start inside Roblox Studio. The tool can handle elements such as gameplay mechanics, environments, characters, visuals and sound.

Roblox says creators have already published approximately 9,000 games through Build since its alpha launch in New Zealand. More significantly for the company's push to lower the barrier to game development, 71% of users who created a game with Build had never previously used Roblox Studio.

Build's public alpha is now expanding to Serbia and Singapore, while Roblox is adding desktop access, an asset library and more iterative controls.

Later this year, Scene Generator will bring another layer of generative AI into both Build and Roblox Studio. Creators will be able to provide a text prompt and reference image to generate a functional game layout before refining it further in Studio.

Roblox also plans to introduce NPCs capable of helping playtest games, according to Reuters and TechCrunch.

Creator Payments Get An Upgrade Too

Roblox is pairing these development and distribution tools with changes to how creators access their earnings.

Yahoo Finance reported that Roblox is launching Roblox Wallet, which will allow eligible creators to receive earnings in real currency every business day and transfer funds to external accounts. The service is expected to launch later this year for eligible independent US creators aged 18 and older before expanding internationally.

Roblox says creators have earned more than $5 billion through its DevEx program since 2013, including approximately $1.7 billion over the past 12 months.

A connected Roblox Card is then scheduled to begin rolling out in 2027, allowing Wallet users to spend their available balance wherever the card is accepted.

Ground News' aggregation of coverage surrounding the RDC announcements similarly highlights AI game creation, wider game distribution and creator payment tools as the central parts of Roblox's latest platform expansion.

Together, the announcements suggest Roblox wants to become more than a destination where games are created and played. By putting its engine underneath standalone apps, adding web and offline access, and reducing the technical barrier to game creation through AI, Roblox is positioning its technology as infrastructure creators can use well beyond the traditional Roblox experience.
